Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am trying to divorce an abusive husband who was mentally, verbally, and physically abusive to our 2 yr old daughter, and mentally and verbally abusive toward me. I left him 11 months ago and he has not seen our kids since then. He is bipolar, and he told me before I left that he would never admit to anyone else that he was abusive and got out of hand with our daughter. Is it possible for me to request that he give up all rights to our children and for it to be granted?

Divorce courts do not terminate rights. A court might limit his visitation to supervised if you can prove endangerment by his conduct, but there is a presumption that he should have unrestricted access to his child,
