Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Divorce Agreement
My divorce agreement states ''X shall pay to Y as his contribution to the support of Z the sum of $500.00 a month until Z attains the age of 18, or graduates from high school whichever occurs later, but in not event past Z's 18th birthday.'' When does child support payments end?

Re: Divorce Agreement
That language you quoted is not consistent with IL law. Child support will stop at one of three events: 18th b-day, h.s. graduation or 19th b-day. 18th b-day is rare...this would happen only if the child has dropped out from school typically. 19th b-day would occur if someone is still in h.s. when he turns 19. High School graduation is probably the most common...child is 18 and graduates high school during that year.
