Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

In the divorce the court order my ex-wife to keep the house and pay for it, but my name is still on it and she stopped paying for it, i don't have the financial resources to make the payments to save my credit. what else can I do? (contacted my lawyer, but he said he file a contemp) my lawyer tells me we can't do anything until the court date. Any other ideas?

Not enough facts. Is your name on title, or the loan? Or both? Sounds like it all made sense at the time but the lovely economy has turned things upside down. You don't say whether your ex can afford to keep the payments up either. And without seeing the entire decree and what other rights or obligations there may be, it would be premature to say. Anyhow, if you have a lawyer and he is filing a motion for contempt for you, you are represented by counsel and we can't get involved.
