Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I want to divorce my husband but am concerned about my assets. I am the breadwinner in the relationship and pay all the bills, and I mean literally all of them. He works part time at a minimum wage job and makes enough to pay for his gas to get to work. We have a house that was bought before we were married, but has both of our names on it, and we also have a car that 'we' purchased after we were married. My main concern is losing my car and house to him in a divorce, even though I pay for them. I am totally uneducated when it comes to knowing anything about divorce, but he wouldn't be able to take these things from me while I still have to pay for them would he? Also, would he be able to get off of the notes on the car and house as long as we agree? Thanks!
