Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

divorce

my husband divorced me without my knowledge through publication. I found out from his mistress, and filed a motion to vacate the judgement and the judge allowed it. we have not been back to court in over 8 months. we are no longer in contact and i do not want to be married to him. we had martial property but i no longer want anything from him, I just want it to be over. because the judgement was vacated are we now married ..the last judgement states '' order to vacate dismissal post jugdement matter- allowed''. case set for reinstate-allowed. CAN I just ask for the old judgement of the dissolution of marriage to be reentered. We have not been in contact in over a year.

Re: divorce

That order sounds like it vacated a dismissal, not a judgment, I'd suggest having an attorney look at the file to advise you as to what to do. If you want the same judgment entered, I'm sure you can do that, especially if the spouse is in agreement. If you want a better property division you could try for that as well.
