Divorce while husband is in jail! Can I?

How do I go about getting a divorce from my husband who is in jail? He has been in jail the whole time. He's in jail in another state than I am in.

Likely yes. Sometimes that makes it easier. The thing I'd like to know about would be your husband's contacts with the state of IL. The Illinois court still has to have jurisdiction over him if there's any property to divide.
