Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Divorce from immigrant wife
I am fighting for joint custody for 1 child and divorce from my immigrant wife of 1 yr. How is support determined? Is the property and business I owned prior to the marraige subject to division? How are finances provided? My wife previously worked and owned a business for a several months until she determined she no longer wanted to do so. Do I have to support her during the divorce process?

Re: Divorce from immigrant wife
Although your property and business obtained prior to the marriage may be considered marital property, there are many exceptions which may be applied to your given situation. As for the maintenance "alimony", there are many factors to consider.
