My divorce lawyer sent my petition to my spouse. My spouse didn't like the wording about the primary guardian being me and wanted it to state joint custody. I ask my lawyer to re-word it, but the lawyer say it was to late because the petition had be file with court. I want to know if that a true statment or could the petition be modifiy...

It is unclear what type of document you are talking about. If it is a pleading or motion, an amended document can be filed. Of course you will be responsible for any additional cost incurred, including the attorneys fees for drafting the amended document. If it is a court order or judgment that has been signed, then it can not be easily changed. It requires the consent of the other side and the judge.
