possible divorce

i've been married 42 years my husband has been cheating all along. but he has always taken care of me. recently he made the comment ''you need to find you a job so you can take care of youself. will he be able to divorce me/leave me and put me a position where i'll have to fend for myself?

Likely not. From your brief posting it surely sounds like yours is a case where alimony/maintenance would be appropriate. Long marriages where one spouse is primarily a homemaker is the "classic" case where maintenance is going to be ordered. Also, he'd likely need to be paying your attorneys fees if there is a divorce proceeding.
