Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am currently going through a divorce. Months back my wife called the police on me, & made false allegations. She told the police I threatened her when I didn't even do anything. No police report was made, & I was never arrested. Anyway from then on I moved out, & am now renting an apartment. Since then she changed the locks on the house, & wrote me a letter. The letter said that I hope you have a permanent place to live until divorce is final, & she signed & dated it. Am i still responsible for the mortgage from the time i moved out of house until now? She can afford the mortgage on her salary alone, & has been paying it herself. She is also saying she's going to hire a lawn service to mow the lawn, house cleaners, & spend around $30,000 dollars in contractors to fix up the house to sell it. I did not give her permission to hire any of them. She keeps sending me letters saying I will be responsible for half of everyone she hires. Will I be responsible for all of this even if i don't live there?

Talk to your lawyer. If you don't have one then hire one. In this housing market, putting $30,000 into the house to fix it up to sell it is throwing money away in my opinion.
