Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Divorce w/child on the way

I met a girl and got married in june of 2006. We are seperated and have a child due around April/may. I have no problem giving her a divorce. I am wondering if it will make a differance getting the divorce before the child is born or after as far as custody rights are concernd. I want my daughter with me as much as possible. note: we are a young couple(25me;19her) and assets are not going to be an issue. Also, i leave in Illinios now and she is in Florida.

Re: Divorce w/child on the way

Hello. You may benefit from filing for a divorce in Illinois before she does. It will be hard enough dealing

with the custody issue since your child is not born yet. Therefore, you might as well begin the process now in your home state.... if you do

in fact want a divorce. Will be happy to answer any additional questions you might have. I am sure this is

stressful for you and I hope my comments have been helpful.
