Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am going through a divorce & we are going to try to work it out amonst ourselves. My question is on child support. I pay & will continue to pay premiums on the children's Medical insurance. Both of my sons wear eyeglasses and need a new pair every year. Will that and other medical issues help me on child support if I continue to pay these expenses? Also, My wife is asking for child support while we are separated, even though we are living in different households( she moved out) Am I obligated to give her money before the divorce, even though, I took on all debt And am continuing to pay insurance premiums on both medical & automobile?

The law requires you to maintain the medical insurance on your children (and your wife as long as you are still married to her) It also allows you to deduct the cost of that insurance from your net income before child support is set. The law does not carte about you other debts in setting support. You will probably have to pay 1/2 the cost of the glasses when you are divorced. And yes you should be paying her support so long as you are not living in the same household.
