Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I am divorced and paying alimony and child support in Illinois. No where in my divorce decree does it mention that child support ceases when a child reaches the age of 18 and graduates high school. My daughter turned 18 last December and moved out of her mothers home, graduated high school this past May I am still paying support to my ex wife for her. My question is can I automatically quit the support for her ? By the way I am still paying for my son also who is 15 and still in schools. so what would the percentage change to? Is it from 28% to 25%?

You must file a motion to modify support unless your judgment provides for the reduction. You will be ordered to pay 20% of your net income as defined by IL law (not tax law) for the remaining minor child. You can not unilaterally reduce the payment.
