Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am divorced and have visitation with my son. He is mentally disabled. He turned 18 in April and now my ex says he doesn't want to go with me and that he doesn't have to because he is 18. Is this true, even though she has is the one convincing him to say this?

Is there anything in the divorce decree about this? That's the first place to look. If not and you'd like to have a continuing relationship with your son, then if you can' t find someone to mediate the situation for you your only choice is to go back to court to seek some guidance from the court and possibly a modification of the decree. Try to avoid that last one if possible because it could be extremely costly if you encounter resistance. But the underlying question is why she is doing this, because in the end it hurts your son too, and unless there is some justification, seems to be cruel toward him especially if he is unable to understand it is such.
