Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I've been divorced for 5 years and i get $400 a month child support.my ex-husband claims that he doesn't make enough money so he wants to reduce the amount for $ 300 a month.i"m not working but he knows that i get financial support from my boyfriend.he is selfemployed and currently started working for his friend.he told me if i don't agree to lower the amoumt that he will make sure that i don't get nothing because his friend will give him small checks.he makes deductions on his tax return so he has it on paper that he doesn't make enough.i don't think that 400 for 7 year old is that much!i don't work because i have a toddler at home.he canno't rely on my boyfried to support his daughter.

There is no easy answer to your problem. If he is working for your friend, he controls how much income he will show. You may be able to persuade a judge that he is not truthfully reporting his income and you should have a needs based order. But that is only the beginning of the problem. If he doesn't pay what is ordered, you will have to fight to get the money every month. So in the end you are scr@wed. Sorry for the bluntness, but it is the reality of the system.
