Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Documentation for daycare expenses

My divorce decree is written up as each parent pays half of the daycare costs. Recently I was informed that my daughter is staying alone when she was supposedly with the babysitter. As a result of this I felt I was paying much more then I should be paying. I politely asked my exwife for copies of cancelled checks written out to the babysitter. She refused but instead gave me a handwritten note from the babysitter with the amount she is paid and her phone number.I have no way of knowing if this was actually written by the babysitter. Can I refuse to pay half the daycare expenses when I suspect I am paying 100% instead of half the expense? I feel as if my ex is lying to me. All I need is some cancelled checks copies.

Re: Documentation for daycare expenses

You could petition the court to have an order entered stating that you are entitled to a copy of the babysitter bill, however this may prove difficult because maybe your ex is paying the babysitter with cash.
