Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

domestic, dcfs, and an affidavit

My boyfriend is in jail on a domestic battery charge against me. I didn't call the police and I want to sign an affidavit stating the facts of what actually transpired. My hesitation in the matter is this- my son got put into protective custody as a result of the alleged crime committed against me. If I sign an affidavit will it jeopardise anything with DCFS and my son getting returned home?

Re: domestic, dcfs, and an affidavit

1. you have to be careful with DCFS.

2. You should not be making any oral or written statements to anyone without an attorney. You may think it will help things, but it usually digs a deeper hole.

Be careful. Let me know if you have any more questions.
