Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Trying to establish chid paternity

A woman came forward claiming that I was the father of her 2 year old child at the end of May, I wanted to go through the legal channels to get paternity, visitation, and child support done, so there was no mess to have to deal with. After 3 months of her not filing papers and I contacted the MO child support office and had papers sent to start the process myself, and she said her mother was taking her child to Ohio and she had to go as well. SO I wanted to start this in Ohio, but she is not wanting to give me her address or anything of where she is. I only have her cell phone number, and she is still claiming me the father. I am at a loss and do not know how to go about getting this done, I want to be involved if he is my son, but she's not cooperating. What do I need to do to get this started, is there anything? My fiance and I are more than willing to help her since she claims to need it so much, but we want to know for sure I am the father, but she doesn't seem to want to go the legal route. Please let me know if there is anything I can do, I really want to know if this child is mine, so I can start doing what needs to be done... Thanks.

Re: Trying to establish chid paternity

You can hire a private investigator to find her. Often times attorneys have services they can use that may be easier to find someone with pertinent information. It is strange that she won't be cooperative. If she wants child support she is going to have to make an attempt to get it sooner or later. But of course you can start the process yourself and request a DNA test, but it would be good to have an attorney help you through this process.
