Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My now ex-girlfriend which I still talk to have some communication issues. There is lots of fighting and arguing and empty threats, the works. I have an anger problem and can jump to conclusions and escalate a small problem to a big one in seconds. Never, and I repeat, never in this relationship has there ever been any kind of physical abuse what-so-ever. My problem is something she acknowledges and it bothers me that she would even think about a legal path when a medical one hasn't been taken yet.
After a recent argument she says that she is going to look into bringing me to court because of "emotional abuse". I need some input. Is "emotional abuse" even a crime? From what I've gathered online if it is "emotional abuse" between a parent and child it is illegal, but for domestic reasons. Can someone let me know where I stand?
And just to clarify, we dated for nearly three years and aren't together anymore. Not married, not living together. All of this "emotional abuse" is taking place over phone calls and text messages. We are both 19. I just filed this picked "Divorce Law" because its the closest I could find to what I could even imagine this being?
If she has any ground to stand on ("emotional abuse" between two non-legally bound persons), I should bring everyone to court who has ever called me a name..
Thank you all in advance.

You should just stop talking to her. Clearly you can't be friends, let alone boyfriend and girlfriend. It will save you money spent on legal fees and on phone bills, not to mention all the stress of dealing with her will be gone. Win-win!
