Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I f you are married and your spouse wants a divorce if they are the female in the relationship is it lawful for them to physically harm you and reguardless of howmany times you call the police they don' do anything about it but if the shoe was on the other foot they would hall me to jail what do I do in this situation?

It is never lawful to physically harm anyone. If they are physically harming you, then seek a civil order of protection against them. You do not need to involve the police
