Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

family law

i've been with this lady for 14 years without marriage. we have 4 children & a house that's not in her name. recently, we haven't been getting along & i asked her to leave via the police. they told me i can't put her out, but i only have 2 recourses:

1. sell house OR

2. leave

i choose to leave, but i want to put the home in her name so i won't be responsible for the mortgage. how do i go about doing this? until i leave, can she lock me out? if she does, can i have her arrested? i'm living in an unsafe enviroment. what other actions can i take?

Re: family law

If the home is in your name, you need to have the home refinanced, or sold. If you had been my client, I would have advised that you not leave the home. Anyway, you are on the hook for the home, until its sold or refinanced. I recommend the former. Be done with it.
