Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
my father, a doctor, promised to pay my college tuition
my father, a doctor, promised to pay my college tution. however, he had me take out loans (since the were ''interest free'') while I was in school, promising to pay them back when I graduated. (although *I knew* that he wasn't going to pay). He chose to spend the money on his second family, although he could have easily paid at the time. Plus, I chose a school that was cheaper (half the price of an Ivy League school) specifically because I didn't want to ask my father--because I thought that if I went to an Ivy League school, his second family *would* feel the expense.
Is there anything I can do at this point because I still owe loans for undergrad (I've been paying them for years) and my father contributed very minimally, compared to what he actually could have afforded to pay. Plus, I'm such a sucker, I knew my dad wasn't going to pay off the loans. But what do you do when you're 18 years old and don't have an income? (except a part-time minimun wage job). Obviously, my dad knew I had no funds to hire a lawyer and take him to court.
Plus, what do I do now? I'm still paying the loans that he promised to pay--when he easily could have contributed to tuition at the time.

You waited too long to do anything about it. While you were in college, you could have forced him to pay some or all of the college related costs.

Well, there is a simple question to help resolve this: Do you have any proof he promised to pay? If yes, then I can help you get the money from him. Email me back with what you have showing he promised, the amounts we are talking about, and how old you are.
