Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My father has recently passed away, but about 8 years ago he had sued the hospital for performing another patients surgery on him. He was paying child support at the time, and still owes alot, that he had never paid. From my understanding I was suppose to receive a large amount of the money. His wife, had gone and spent most of the money. But I recently found out, there is some left that she can not get to. how can I go about getting my share of the money that is owed to me?
