Filimg in the state of Illinois

In the state of Illinois does the Mail Box Rule apply to motion responses or must it be physically in the hand of the clerk of the court by the close of business on the last date allowed to file?

"Must be filed . . . " means "filed", not "mailed".

However, in some situations, you might be able to obtain leave of court to file out of time, and in othe cases you might be able to persuade the court to set aside a judgement or other order entered due to a responsive pleading being filed out of time. I would suggest that you consult with, and hire and attorney.
