Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

How do I fill out the Petition for Registration of Foreign Judgement? My ex-husband divorced me in Georgia where he lives, I live in Illinois and I want to modify the terms of the divorce as well as custody of my child. I was not in court when he did this, nor did I sign the papers.

One can register a judgment in every state. The problem is whether a state's court has the power (jurisdiction) to modify the judgment. If he lived in Ga that state had the power to divorce you. Thatodors not mean it had the power to do anything else. Has he ever lived in IL with you and the child? Did you ever live in Ga with him and the kid. This is a complex issue. Please consult with an Atty.
