Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

i fled the state of illinois with my children to escape domestic violence. i was gone for 4 months and my ex has found us and is suing me for custody of the children unless we return to illinois and reside there giving him liberal visitation. he refuses to agree to removing the children from the state of illinois despite the fact that ive offered him summer vacations and spring and holiday breaks for visitation. i dont feel its safe for us to reside in that state for fear of him continueing the abuse. hes plead guilty to 2 incidents of domestic battery towards me and one count per child of child endangerment. i have pictures, emails, and voice mails from him showing proof of the abuse even after he moved out. and ive had to call the police 5 times to remove him from my residence cause he refused to leave. what do i have to do to be able to get a removal of the children from the state granted by the court. i have to file an answer to his petition by tomorrow and the legal aid office will not take my case. i cant afford a private attorney. can anyone please help. i dont know what to include in this answer and what motions or petitions to file and when concerning the removal of the children.....

You've been (thus far) legally outmaneuvered. You need to retain an attorney, it's just that simple. Beg, borrow, or steal if you have to - these are your children that you may be about to lose. Call family, call friends, hold a bake sale, sell assets - do something, now. There are no magic words you can tell the judge that will "fix" this.
