Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

fraud/ illegal documents

I know that my son's last name on his social security card was changed without my sgniture. (which was needed) by his father. The congress office has sent for the documents used to change the name. What I would like to know, what is the punishment of changing the name? We know he had to either have his wife sign my name ... change a page in the divorce paper(maybe)...whatever. And would'nt this be considered a federal offence, beens its the social securiy office he did this. Hope you can understand my question. Oh one other thing, when I recieve the documents that where used to know exactly what he did. Do I go to a lawyer or to the states attoney? I want to thank you for your time.

Re: fraud/ illegal documents

The social security administration

office should be able to provide you

with the documentation that they

honored which resulted in your son's

name being changed on their records.

I suggest that you write that office

and request the information. Once

you receive this, you can see what

was done and can then advise the

social security administration of

any forgery of your signature. The

social security office will then

probably initiate criminal charges

depending upon what actually was done

by your son's father.
