Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Hi. My frend got married in IL in 1997.On 2004, her husband went to the Philippines and married another woman. My friend only found out a month ago. Can she sue her husband for Bigamy? Her husband said it's not Bigamy since his marriage in the Philippines is not recognized here in the U.S.

Some thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

it is bigamy. get a divorce
