Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

In front of the judge for a divorce hearing, my soon to be ex wife is crying she has no money. The judge wanted to see my wallet. The judge then took all the money in my wallet and gave it to her. Is that legal? Also, just some info...I have an attorney and she does not. My attorney allowed this.

It would be professionally inappropriate for us to interfere with your attorney-client relationship but if you are asking us whether it was appropriate for your attorney to allow this, very possibly. But without knowing more, it is impossible to be certain. If you believe your attorney should not have allowed this, you can file a charge with the Illinois Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission, which oversees attorney licensing in Illinois for the Illinois Supreme Court, but that's up to you.
