Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My girlfreind left me shortly after the birth of our daughter. I have offered support and have been refused. I meet with them once a week for and hour or two, this is all my ex will agree to. I am worried about my right as a father if she desides to move or marry without any paperwork to prove my commitment to my daughter in the form of a written agreement or cashed checks. Are my rights protected if I don't declare them in any way after signing her birth certificate?

Absolutely Not! You have as much right to see the child, or stop her from moving as I do. You MUST file a parentage action and have yourself determined to be the father. Until then, you are nothing, regardless of what you signed. And you are entitled to much more visitation. Protect your rights and consider hiring an attorney.
