Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
can my ex girlfriend take my 14 yr old son from south dakota to puerto rico if neither he nor i want him to go if she has custody of him for the school year and i have him for summers? what can i do to legally stop her from doing this?

Unless you're willing to file a motion in court preventing this, there's nothing you can do.

Without knowing if there has ever been a court proceeding, and what state that [proceeding was in, your question can not be answered. If they live in SD and have never lived here, you can do NOTHING here. Illinois does not have the power to do anything. Anything you may be able to do would have to probably be done in SD.
