Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
giving up custodial rights
a friend of mine adopted his girlfriends child, married, divorced and is having a hard time with being allowed to see the child. The child who is 15 doesn't want anything to do with him, so the mother doesn't make the child see her ''dad''. He wants to give up rights, because this has been going on for four years and he is tired of the stress and being upset. How does he do this?

Re: giving up custodial rights
The bad news he cannot simply give up parental rights or duties. That is why he was warned about the consequences in court during the time he adopteed the child. He is stuck until the child is 18 with all the same duties a biological father would have.
And the real biological father gets a total walk because your friend did the adoption.
