Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Giving guardianship to someone other than ex husband in the event of my death

Is it possible to give guardianship to someone other than my ex-husband or other family members in the event of my death? My son and I are Jehovah's Witnesses and I would like him to live with Witness friends rather than my ex-husband or other family who are not Witnesses. I would like to make out a will giving guardianship to the Witness friends. Thank you for any and all help into this query.

You can certainly make a Will that names guardians of your children(other than your ex)upon your death, but your ex's rights as the biological father will take precedence if he survives you.
