Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

good morning. my wife was recently sent a notice of a case filed by her ex husband seeking visitation of their daughter. they were divorced just over a year after the child's birth, she has sole custody, and visitation was reserved. he has had no contact with the child since that time, approximately 3 years. my wife filed for child support enforcement recently after having received no child support after the divorce. the ex husband has a history of psychiatric illness and drug use, and my wife would prefer he not be around the child. is there anything we can do to restrict or limit his visitation? also, if we seek back child support, would he be obligated from the time of the divorce or from the time she filed to enforce? thank you.

As he is the father he is entitled to some type of relationship with his child. If he is not currently dangerous to the child, the court will probably give him some type of visitation. Support only relates back to the date of filing of the support motion.
