Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My grandson is 15 1/2 and living in a abusive home with his father. His mother and father have jiont custody. He wishes to live full time with his mother. They all live in Ill. Can he do so without getting a lawyer?

Probably not. These are complicated issues, and unless the mother is a divorce attorney she probably does not know the relevant law.
