Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I was granted a year long order of protection against my spouse. The same day it was granted the legal aid told me to file a motion for prove up and gave me a court date. (I filed the OP and divorce papers the same day and my spouse was served both). What happens during the prove up?

If he was served with the papers and did not file an appearance, you are entitled for the court to enter of an order of default and you must then testify as to the grounds set forth in your Petition and what assets if any you and your spouse own, and then ask the court for what relief you want - BE SURE TO ASK THAT ORDER OF PROTECTION BE MADE PERMANENT - and present the court with a proposed Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage
