my mother-in-law has a mentaly ill sister and would like to know how to go about getting her put in a place where she will get the care she needs before she hurts herself or anyone else. she would like to beable to talk with her sisters doctors or counseler .

Hello. In this situation your mother-in-law may

want to consider opening a disabled person's estate

for her sister. If your mother-in-law is appointed guardian of her sister's disabled person's estate, she would be authorized to talk to her sister's doctors or counselor. Of course the big question is whether there is enough money for your mother-in-law's sister to be cared for on a 24 hour basis. Many families face this challenge today. I will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
