guardianship for 19 yr old son

My son has a mental illnes and has been in and out of the hospital nurmerous times over the last 2 years. what is involved in getting guardianship since he is 19 years old.

Hello. To be named your son's guardian

under these circumstances, it would be

necessary to open a disabled person's

estate. The Court would appoint an

interim guardian ad litem to visit and

interview your son once the case is filed. Assuming that the guardian ad litem's report specifies that your son is disabled, the Court would then appoint you or a named person his guardian. After that, all of your son's affairs would have to be monitored by the court so that his interest would be protected. I will
