Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I keep getting harrassed with letters from a state that issued child support order for my son. My employer automatically pays the amount from my check each pay period. My son left that state with his mother when he was 6 months old and they havent lived there since. I still do not get to see my son and I have never been allowed to present my case in court because I cant afford to. I no longer live in that state eitherand have not for two years. I dont want to pay child support to this state any longer. I want the child support to go to the state he lives in, even though im still angry I dont get to see him as often. What can I do to stop getting railroaded and taken advantage of from this state?

The state where the order was entered retains jurisdiction unless and until you go to court and ask the court to be transferred. you would then have to commence a case in the state she lives in. As a Payor, you have the right to pay, little else.
