Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
I went to a hearing today for child support, the NC (with counsel present) said that they are receiving food stamps, had applied for SSI about 2 years ago and awaits respond. NC has Bi-polar with no other condition that I am aware of. NC to the my knowledge has not been hospitalized in the past 5 years. NC is to bring in verification of SSI application on next court date that is 9 weeks out. My question is: How long on average does it take to get SSI? What are my chances of getting a decent amount of child support to help support my daughter?

IF NC's only income is SSI, your chance of getting a "decent" amount of child support is nil. SSi is a limited amount. A court may order NC to pay a portion of the SSI to you for support, but there is no child support component to SSI
