Hiring an attorney

Is there an advantage to hiring an attorney in the same county I live in, or is a near-by county no different?

You can hire an attorney from anywhere within the State if you like or outside the State if they are admitted to practice in Illinois. Just bear in mind that the further you get from the courthouse and the more inconvenient it becomes for them to appear in court for you, the more likely they are to charge you more. You should discuss this with the attorney you have in mind.
