Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband has bipolar, after 9 years of rocky married life and abuse toward me and children I have planned to leave him. Will he get the custody of our two son? He was hospitalized due to bipolar episode for week and a half. Please advice!

Why would he get custody? Just because he is a man does not mean he should get custody. Just because he is bio-polar does not mean he should not get custody. It is the court's duty to balance various concerns and determine whom is a better custodian for the kids.
