If my husband and I do not have a civil wedding, but only a church wedding, is he still responsible for me and our child financially if we are not living together?

Illinois law does not require you to have both ceremonies. It does require that the marriage be registered with the county clerk's office. But even that formality can sometimes be waived and the marriage still recognized as being legal. Even if the courts found that your marriage was invalid, your husband would always be required to provide support for the minor child.
