Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband has a daughter of 4 years. But ever since we got married, a year ago, the baby's mother won't let him see his child. He has tried talking, looking for her, texting her, and even to the child's grandmother. Could not seeing his child for a year affect him when he files for joint custody?

It's possible. The sooner he files with the court, the better chance he has of getting joint legal custody and a regular visitation schedule (assuming the child's residence is with her mother). Get moving!
