Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband and I are getting a divorce yet we have not starting any proceedings and are still living in the same house. He has openend up his own bank account of which he is paying the bills and giving me checks for groceries. He has told me to open up my own account in order to pay my car payment. I get a check every 2 weeks from my job, it doesn't pay very well though and once that comes out I have barely anything. I feel like I am in a corner. He is treating us like we are divorced. I think this is wrong. What can I do.
