Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband and I are divorcing. He recently started a new job and is cashing out the pension from his previous employer. He said I have to sign and have notarized the form so he can receive the lump sum, but he has no plans to give me any of that money. We were married for 5 years. Am I entitled to any of that money? I do not have a lawyer and can not afford one.

It is going to be more expensive for you to try to handle this on your own. My advice is to hire a lawyer to save you from making an expensive mistake. At the very least, you should pay a lawyer for a consultation!

DO NOT SIGN THE FORM until you have consulted with a competent divorce atty. You may have an interest in those monies.
