Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband filed for divorce accusing me of cruelty. My husband has been violent with me and has been arrested.he has verbally abused my kids Why hasn't the judge dismissed the case already? I have been forced to fly back and forth from California for hearings.

He can, and will, get a divorce. Unless you objected, you would have been wiser to stay in California so you wouldn't submit yourself or the kids (if with you) to the jurisdiction of the court. Now everything is in play.
