Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My husband and I are both filing chapter 7 bankruptcy, so no real property. What we do have left we mutually have agreed to divide. No children for either of us & have only been married 5 years. I am doing the divorce myself & have downloaded the Joint Simplified Dissolution packet from the County Circuit Clerk. It says we have to have lived separately for 6 months, which we haven't. We want to get this done ASAP as I am moving to Colorado in a month. I called an attorney today, who wants to charge me $1500 & can't see me for 2 weeks, and he said he can get around this 6 months. How do we do this ourselves?

My firm does simplified dissolutions for as little as $700. Unfortunately, since you have not retained my services, I cannot tell you how to do it yourselves. But by now, I presume you figured it out and got your divorce. Good luck to you!
