Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My husband and I do not live together for about 6 mos. We have two children and they go back and forth between the two houses. Nothing has been filed with the Courts.

I want to go out of town for a weekend without children. What can I do? Can I leave the children with a friend? Do I have to tell my husband that I am going out of town? Can I simply leave the two children with my next door neighbor and not tell my husband that I going out of town? What are rules regarding this ?

First you should probably ask their father if he can keep them while you are gone. If he can't or won't then feel free to leave them with a friend assuming that friend is a responsible adult. You should tell your husband that you will be out of town and at least be sure that he has a contact number for you. You don't necessarily have to tell him who you will be with or where you are going but he should be able to contact you in an emergency.
