Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My husband's sister passed away last year leaving behind 2 daughters (1 is 16, the other 22). The younger daughter has since moved in with her older sister who now has temporary guardianship as the father is not taking care of her. Is he still legally responsible to meet her financial needs & take care of her until she is an adult even though he signed over temporary guardianship to his oldest daughter?

She can seek child support until the child reaches 18. If she had sought custody under the divorce law, she may have been entitled to more, such as child support until graduates from HS and college contribution.
